Do I have a chance at being accepted into the U.S Military Academy (West Point)?
Malcolm C asked:
I have been a member of J.R.O.T.C for approximately 3 years going on 4 years. This upcoming 12th grade year I will be the battallion commander and have the rank of L.T Colonel highest rank in the program. I have been awarded numerous awards including distingushed cadet, superior cadet and cadet of the year. I also have been a recipient of 2 challenge coins. I am also captain of the drill team. I was also a former member of the Civil Air Patrol where I attended a leaders ship camp at Stratton Air National Guard Base even flew in a C-130 also I been to Fort Dix for ROTC leadership training. The only negative thing is my grades are not all that good. I have been mostly a ‘B’ student all my life. Welcome to all answers.

I think some of those things are good enough accomplishments to certainly get u looked at if u applied. And B’s are not all that bad, although I applaud u for aiming high! However, are u aware that u need recommendations from senators, etc. to apply to West Point? With that resume and some good recommendations, I see u as a great candidate! Good luck!

Well I’ll tell u what from what u just wrote here and I being a veteran myself if u do not get accepted into West Point, than someone has a serious problem at that academy and being from new Jersey, myself I know Fort Dix,very well I took boot camp there back in the day.
So with all that u have done I cannot see u not getting into West Point, with the exception of a criminal back ground that u maybe hiding other than that u look like a lock to me Good Luck with that ok.

Please don’t listen to discouraging answers that you are going to get. Some people are just cowards and think little of serving your country, anyway to answer your question…
I am sure you have been to the website but if not this is useful.
I really think your best bet is to call a counselor A.S.A.P so you can make the necessary adjustments to ensure an admission! Good Luck

The grades are gonna hurt.
There are hundreds of JROTC commanders with better grades, who have the same extracircular activities.
All you can do, is buckle down and try to get your grades up your last year.
And make sure you apply.
You also might wanna think about Norwich or the Citadel, they are both Military Academies almost as old as West Point
And getting a scholorship to them, might be easier.
